International competitiveness of SMEs
Project INDEPEDENDENT increases renewable, sustainable and high economic input international competitiveness by offering key solutions in reducing dependence on fossil resources by providing algae-based biotechnological products to the SMEs operating in energy, food, health, environment, agriculture and livestock sectors.

Biodiesel
Biodiesel obtained from algae can be used by blending with standard diesel within the range of 7-15% by volume without any changes to existing diesel engines.

Chlorella
With its high plant-based protein, fiber, vitamin and mineral content, dried chlorella is preferred in healthy food and snack product recipes, while it can also be consumed directly.

Phycocyanin
The phycocyanin pigment obtained from blue-green algae can be used in functional food products with its high antioxidant capacity. Additionally, it is preferred as a natural food coloring due to its blue color, which is rare in nature.

Spirulina
With its high plant-based protein, dried Spirulina stands out as a quite popular product preferred in healthy food products.

Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids, such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which must be taken through diet, can be extracted from algae as a completely vegan source and used as a supplement product.

Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin pigment, the most powerful natural antioxidant currently known, can be used as a feed additive in the food supplement and aquaculture industry.

Beta-carotene
Beta-carotene, one of the provitamin-A carotenoids, can be widely used as a food supplement and natural food coloring.
